Barracuda Pub Group’s Autumn Winter Menu Goes Live

Barracuda Pub Group has begun the roll-out of its new Autumn Winter menu for the 150 pubs under its Smith & Jones brand. 

Features on the menu include a new bar snacks offer, a new ‘lighter and still as lovely’ section which highlights 14 dishes that are under 500 calories and a mix and match mini pudding offer confirming that variety really is the spice of life when you visit a Smith & Jones pub.

The bar snacks offer has been introduced as the trend of snacking and sharing continues to grow.  The section offers nine dishes including Grilled Tandoori Chicken Skewers, Sesame Chicken Bites tossed in a Jim Beam glaze, Quesadillas and Homemade Skin-On Potato Wedges.  The dishes can be ordered individually as a starter (one dish is £3) or to be shared with friends (two dishes is £5, three dishes is £7).

The mix and match mini pudding section has also been introduced as a sharing option meaning customers can taste, share or indulge, depending on their mood.  The range includes Apple & Rhubarb Crumble with Custard, Sticky Toffee Pudding and the ever-popular Chocolate Chip Cookie Cups filled with ice cream & toffee sauce sprinkled with a crumble flake.

To encourage customers to sample the new puddings on the menu and find their favourite, Friday 21st October sees the launch of Free Pud Friday where Smith & Jones pubs will offer customers a free pudding when they order a main meal.

Kate Eastwood, Head of Food at Barracuda Pub Group said: “We’re delighted with the new menu and are confident that our customers will feel the same.  There’s been a change of culture by stepping away from starters and replacing them with the bar snacks section.  However, through the research we’ve conducted with our customers, we’re making sure that we meet their needs from both a value for money perspective and catering for the range of reasons that they visit our pubs, be it a place to watch sport with friends, somewhere to relax after work or catching up with family to celebrate a special occasion. 

“The new menu also reflects the change of season with warmer, more comforting dishes such as our piping hot pies, the Moroccan Spiced Lamb Broth and our Speciality Sausage and Mash.  We’ve also increased the size of our best-selling, hand-pressed burgers which are made using our own secret recipe to 7oz making them even more delicious. 

“At each menu launch, we introduce a new skill for our kitchen teams and this launch is no different.  This menu sees increased focus on attention to detail and making sure that the finishing touches are complete, whether it’s basting the chargrilled steak for the steak sandwich to making sure the salsa garnish on the Bar Snacks is fresh, vibrant and looks exciting.  Through our mystery guest programme we know that we are getting top scores on the quality of the meals that are being presented to our customers, so we need to keep ensuring that every dish looks mouth watering before leaving the pass.”
