Smith & Jones Press Release - The Bounty, Workington

Date
07/06/2011

The Bounty closed to make way for a refurbishment.

The Bounty on Finkle Street in Workington closed on Saturday evening to make way for a £80,000 refurbishment.  The pub will reopen to customers at 10am on Saturday 11th June and the pub will host a celebratory party starting at 5.00pm that evening.

During the closure, the team from the pub will take part in a comprehensive training programme to ensure they provide the very best customer service in town.  The refurbishment of the pub will mean the recruitment of up to five new members of staff from the local area.  Plans for The Bounty include the introduction of contemporary-style furniture in vibrant colours and feature wallpaper throughout bringing a brighter, lighter feel to the pub.

John Reid, the manager at The Bounty, said: “We are transforming The Bounty into a traditional pub where people can catch up with friends over a bite to eat or a pint of our hand-pulled cask ale, take part in our quiz night every Wednesday or celebrate an important family occasion.

“Our focus will be about offering quality food at reasonable prices and giving residents and visitors of Workington a place to relax and enjoy themselves.  We recently launched a new menu which has been designed for the warmer months.  It has some great salads along with the pub classics such as Lasagne, Scampi & Chips and of course, our great tasting burgers which are hand pressed and cooked to order.”

“We’ve removed all of the previous fixtures and fittings such as the dance floor, disco-style lighting and DJ booth and replaced them with softer seating, circular booths, dining tables and chairs.  That being said, we’ll still continue to offer customers a place to enjoy great entertainment on the weekend but we’ll also be concentrating on offering great food and drink.”

Along with the new-look, a variety of offers will also be available including the introduction of a carvery on Sundays with two choices of roast for £6.99, a great new drinks range with continental lagers such as Peroni Nastro Azzurro, Erdinger and San Miguel and a new cocktail menu – perfect for summer sipping!

“Our aim for The Bounty is to make sure that when people visit the pub, they experience great service always with a smile,” continued John.
